Destinations: Tanzania

The iconic safari destination. Tanzania has its’ own flavor and style however, and Dar es Salaam is one of the oldest cities in Africa. The Arabic flavor is strongly seen along the coast in the architecture and foods, adding a welcome spice to any safari in the interior as well. Arusha is ‘safari city’, and the fabulous parks of the interior offer travelers some of Africa’s wildest and out-of-the-way places, as well as the Serengeti, Kilimanjaro and the Ngorongoro Crater. This country has more to offer in it’s parks than virtually any other African country except South Africa.

Selous and Ruaha Game Reserves. Remote and rewarding! Dry season best, and all wildlife types. Good birds and large herbivores.

Tarangire and Manyara National Parks. Baobabs, big elephant bulls, and good general game all round. En route to Ngorongoro.

Serengeti National Park, the migration. The most spectacular wildlife scenes in the world. Predators and herbivores in their complete glory!

Ngorongoro Crater. The most famous caldera, with an entire eco-system and about 30 000 animals to be seen!

Mount Kilimanjaro. Africa’s tallest mountain, and a 7 day climb to be safe.

Zanzibar. The ‘Spice Island’, 18 miles from Dar es Salaam. Terrific beach destinations and historical interest. Ancient Arabic architecture.
